SUBJECT: Lack of Confidence in Management Decisions
WHEREAS senior NWA management has been rewarded with significantly improved
post-bankruptcy compensation packages while NWA employees are working more hours
for significantly less compensation due to the 1113c proceedings of the bankruptcy
process, and
WHEREAS all indications are that staffing is below what is required to properly
fly the summer schedule, and
WHEREAS this staffing shortage will have a noticeable and costly impact on NWA’s
summer flying, revenue and passenger goodwill, and
WHEREAS this staffing shortage will create additional employee fatigue and lower
morale, and
WHEREAS the likely staffing shortage and subsequent negative effects for NWA’s
passengers, profits, and employees’ well-being are a direct result of
decisions made by the same management that is being rewarded so richly, and
WHEREAS the NWA MEC, during the bankruptcy process, repeatedly stressed that
staffing would be a problem in the future if not addressed,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the pilots of NWA have genuine concerns regarding how
the airline is being operated and express no confidence in these and other operational
decisions being made by NWA executive and senior management, and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the NWA MEC directs the MEC Chairman and Vice Chairman
to convey to the NWA Board of Directors in person and/or via letter:
• our concerns for the integrity of the summer operation, and
• that the EMT’s current policies regarding NWA employees continue
to have a negative effect on NWA’s ability to achieve long-term profitability
and success, and
• NWA pilots have expressed, and Wilson polling data supports, that NWA
pilots have little or no confidence in the manner in which NWA is being managed.
